	"Adapter":"Adapting means \"making something fit\". The various accessories, such as twist drill bits, screwdriver bits, chisels, router bits, files, etc. can differ in the shape and diameter of their shank end. In order to be able to use them anyhow for every power tool, these differences are compensated using an adapter.",
	"All-purpose saw":"\"All-purpose saw\" is a popular name for a large hand saw that is particularly suitable for fast cutting of wood, plastic and metal. There have also been electronic all-purpose saws for some time now.",
	"Allen key":"Tool for driving screws that have a hexagonal shank.",
	"Angle drill head":"The angle drill head is an accessory (attachment) for drills, which makes it possible to drill at a 90° angle in tight spaces. In the new IXO generation, it is possible to extend the normal drill head with an elbow adapter.",
	"Angle grinder":"The term \"angle grinder\" is somewhat misleading because this hand-guided power tool is mainly intended for cutting (with a cutting disc) metal or stone. When equipped with the corresponding accessories, the angle grinder can also grind, brush, polish and remove rust. ",
	"Auto-Lock":"Clamping system for easy, fast tool changes on impact drills without the need for additional tools. The drill spindle is automatically locked when the tool is at standstill; the accessory can be changed effortlessly with one hand by turning the drill chuck.",
	"Battery":"Batteries are electric accumulators. They make it possible to work with power tools independently of the mains socket. A battery consists of two or more elements (electric cells) that can be charged. The most common batteries are nickel cadmium batteries and lithium-ion batteries.",
	"Bearing":"The bearing points of tools with mechanically moving parts have to absorb and compensate forces, motions and friction. There is a wide range of bearings depending on the type of strain, whereby, for example, a slide bearing has lower friction and is therefore designed for higher speeds, whereas a rolling bearing can withstand greater force.",

	"Biscuit dowel":"Elliptical wooden dowel made of compressed wood with various dimensions. The biscuit dowel is fitted in a slot that is routed in the wooden parts and produces an invisible wooden joint.",
	"Cable securing device":"Mechanical clamping device fitted to the handle of DIY garden tools. It prevents the extension cable from being unintentionally disconnected from the tool.",
	"Cable strippers":"A power cable consists of several copper wires that are insulated by a plastic coating. If, for example, you want to connect a power cable to a lamp, you have to remove the insulation because the plastic coating does not conduct electric current. The cable strippers are used to remove the coating on power cables without damaging the copper wires inside them.",
	"Cable tie":"Cable ties fix different power cables to each other. They normally consist of a toothed, thin plastic strap with a looped end, which the tooth strap is pulled through and engages into. ",
	"Chainsaw":"Hand-guided tool mainly intended for cutting wood. The chainsaw works with a continuous rotary saw chain. It is powered by a petrol-driven motor or an electric motor and is particularly suitable for thick beams and tree trunks. Protective equipment (cut-resistant trousers, protective goggles) absolutely must be worn when working with a chainsaw.",
	"Chamfer":"As chamfer is a slanted edge on workpieces. Chamfers can have various functions, e.g. improving the visual appearance or increasing the user safety.",
	"Changeable battery":"When using power tools with a changeable battery, this battery can be removed from the tool to charge it (meanwhile you can continue working with a second battery). There are also cordless power tools with a permanent battery, which cannot be removed from the tool. In this case, the battery is charged in the power tool. ",
	"Charge level indicator":"Shows how much energy is left in the batteries in different stages.",
	"Charger":"Device for recharging batteries. Chargers and the different charging processes have an effect on the charge time (1–5 hours) and lifetime of the battery. The following applies: The faster the battery is charged, the less strain this puts on the battery.",
	"Chisel":"A chisel is used, for example, to cut stone or a cable duct. The most common chisel types include pointed chisels, flat chisels, spade chisels, gouging chisels, pointing chisels and toothed chisels. Chisels can be clamped into e.g. rotary hammers and chisel hammers; in hand-held use, a conventional hammer is struck against the striking surface of the chisel.",
	"Chisel hammer":"Power tool used for chiselling concrete. In contrast to the rotary hammer, the chisel hammer only performs a striking motion and not rotation. Therefore, it has greater impact force.",
	"Chrome vanadium steel ":"Alloy of chrome and vanadium metals. CV steel is used to manufacture accessories, such as drill bits.",
	"Circular saw":"The circular saw is a power tool used for working on wood. Depending on the application, either bench-mounted circular saws (bench circular saws, sliding mitre saws, mitre saws) or hand-held circular saws are used. Circular saws are particularly suitable for precise rip and mitre cuts. ",
	"Collet":"The purpose of a collet is to clamp the accessory (router bit etc.) firmly in the power tool. It has a slotted sleeve in the drive spindle, which holds the clamping shank of the accessory and grips it firmly when the locking nut is closed.",
	"Compact belt sander":"The compact belt sander is a type of belt sander. Due to its narrow, continuous rotary sanding surface, it is particularly suitable for sanding in small corners, edges and hard-to-reach areas – with a high material removal rate.",
	"Composite material":"Composite materials consist of two or more different types of materials, which are joined together permanently. This gives the composite material other properties than its individual components. There are three main groups: layered composites (e.g. laminated wooden boards or chipboard, plywood boards), fibre composites (e.g. glass fibre reinforced glass, glass fibre reinforced plastic) and particle composites (e.g. concrete, grinding discs).",
	"Concrete":"Building material commonly used in civil engineering. Concrete consists of cement and water (as a bonding agent) and aggregates (usually sand, gravel or grit). Concrete is placed in casings when it is damp/wet, where it dries and hardens. Concrete has a high level of compressive strength. Concrete is divided into three strength categories: lightweight concrete, normal concrete and heavy concrete.",

In order to countersink a screw in a workpiece (to make it flush with the workpiece surface), the drilled holes are enlarged with a countersink bit that has the same angle as the screw. ",
	"Cutting discs":"Accessory (usually for angle grinders and cutting grinders) for cutting metals and stone materials. Cutting discs (1 to 2.5 mm wide) grind through the material with their front end.",
	"Cutting grinder":"Cutting grinders are angle grinders operated with large cutting discs (upwards of 300 mm diameter) for cutting metals or stone materials with deep cuts. ",
	"Cutting to length":"\"Cutting to length\" is the term used to refer to the exact shortening (clipping, trimming, etc.) of boards and strips.",
	"Degree of efficiency":"The degree of efficiency is the ratio between power input (power taken from the electricity network) and power output (power that a machine delivers at the accessory). The higher the degree of efficiency, the more effectively the machine works.",
	"Delta sander":"The delta sander is a sanding tool with a triangular sanding plate, which is particularly suitable for fine sanding in corners, edges or hard-to-reach areas.",
	"Depth stop":"If an exact depth has to be maintained when drilling, a depth stop, which is integrated into many impact drills or is implemented, for example, by a dust extraction system with integrated depth stop, can be used to set a dimension. 	"Detector":"To ensure that you do not hit an electric cable when drilling or damage a drain pipe when chiselling, detectors are used beforehand to locate metal, wooden substructures and electric cables.",

	"Joule":"The measure of the single impact force of the accessory in rotary and demolition hammers. The joule number makes it possible to compare the single impact forces to each other.",
	"Keyed chuck":"Clamping mechanism fitted to the spindle of a drill, the purpose of which is to hold the accessory (e.g. drill bit). The keyed chuck is tightened using a chuck key. ",
	"Keyless chuck":"Clamping device on the power tool that allows for quick accessory changes without additional tools (e.g. chuck key). Only accessories with an appropriate clamping shank (e.g. screwdriver bits) can be clamped in the keyless chuck.",
	"Laser rangefinder":"Length measuring process performed by sending and receiving a light signal (laser). The distance covered is calculated by means of the time that passes between sending and receiving the signal. This measurement process is referred to as an \"optical measurement process\". The advantages of laser rangefinders are their accuracy and time-saving.",
	"LED (light emitting diode)":"LEDs consist of a semiconductor material that lights up when electrical voltage is applied. Many colours are possible depending on which substances are added to the semiconductor material. LEDs are perfectly suitable for use as display elements.",
	"Mains voltage":"\"Mains voltage\" is the term used to describe the electrical voltage provided in the electricity network by a power supply company. It is 230 volts in Europe and in most countries in the world.",
	"Masonry drill bit":"Masonry drill bits are clamped in rotary hammers or impact drills, in order to drill in stone, masonry and concrete. There are usually chisel-shaped, ground tungsten-carbide cutting edges soldered into the tip because the drill bits have to be very robust due to the impact energy.",
	"Material removal rate":"The material removal rate provides a meaningful reference value for comparing different power tools, such as planers or sanders. Put simply, it states how much material (stock) is removed in a certain time (usually measured by the hour) from the workpiece. As a rule, the higher the material removal rate, the more effective the tool.",
	"Memory effect":"What is known as \"memory effect\" can occur in nickel cadmium batteries. These batteries have a \"memory\", so to speak, and should be completely discharged before they are recharged. If this is ignored too often, the battery seems to \"remember\" the energy requirement. Over time, the charge capacity diminishes, which causes the battery to become flat faster when it is used. This effect does not occur in lithium-ion batteries.",
	"Metal types":"There are different metal types for different applications. Some of the technically most important metals are aluminium, lead, chrome, iron, cadmium, cobalt, copper, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, platinum, plutonium, quicksilver, titanium, uranium, tungsten, zinc, tin.",

	"Motor protection ":"Feature for protecting an electric motor against overload. If the performance limit of a power tool is reached during operation, the motor protection switches the tool off before the motor is damaged.",
	"Multi-sander":"The multi-sander has – similar to the delta sander – a triangular sanding plate. Like the delta sander, it is therefore particularly suitable for fine sanding in corners, edges and hard-to-reach areas.",
	"Nickel cadmium batteries (NiCd)":"The electrodes in these batteries are made of nickel and a cadmium compound. NiCd batteries are small, lightweight and robust. They have high power output and allow for a large number of charge and discharge cycles. Due to their toxic heavy metal compounds, controlled recycling is imperative.",
	"Nickel-metal hydride batteries (NiMH)":"The electrodes in nickel-metal hydride batteries are made of nickel and a metal alloy with embedded hydrogen. NiMH batteries have a more favourable power-to-weight ratio than NiCd batteries. They are maintenance-free and environmentally neutral.",
	"Operating speed (operating stroke rate)":"With some power tools, such as impact drills, rotary hammers, angle grinders, planers and routers, the operating speed states the no-load speed (idling speed). With jigsaws, the no-load speed is the no-load stroke rate.",
	"Orbital sander":"Due to the orbital motion of its sanding surface, an orbital sander ensures a fine finish, especially on large surfaces. The material removal rate is lower than that of a belt sander. ",
	"Overload":"Overload often occurs in power tools when excessive feed pressure is applied to the tool; a frequent cause is also the use of unsuitable, blunt or incorrectly ground accessories. As soon as overload occurs, the motor protection (if present) switches the machine off automatically.",
	"Pendulum stroke":"Certain function of a jigsaw. Whereas the saw blade in jigsaws without a pendulum stroke only performs straight-lined stroke movements, the saw blade with pendulum stroke oscillates forwards and backwards. This allows for better ejection of the chips produced during sawing and increases the sawing performance of the jigsaw.",
	"Planer":"Like the sander, the planer is a tool for working on wooden surfaces. Whereas the sander processes the wood by means of the grit on the sanding paper, the planer cuts off entire chips. In contrast to standard, hand-held planers, the power tool works with a blade shaft that rotates at high speed. It provides fast and precise planing with a high material removal rate.",
	"Planetary gearbox":"The planetary gearbox is a type of toothed gearing. It consists of a gear cluster: the central sun gear, the planetary gears and the outer ring gear with inward-facing teeth. The planetary gearbox has a long lifetime due to its high quality and can transfer high torque.",
	"Plastics":"Plastics are gained from natural materials, mainly mineral oils. By means of certain manufacturing processes and admixtures, plastics can be produced with virtually made-to-measure technical properties, such as malleability, hardness, elasticity, breakage resistance, temperature resistance, heat deflection resistance and chemical resistance. Plastics are divided into three groups: thermoplastics (for dimensionally stable components), thermosets (for hard and surface-resistant components) and elastomers (for elastic components).",
